I acknowledge the law permitting officers to arrest the male spouse when it comes to domestic disputes. However, what happens in Canada when the domestic dispute is between same sex couples?
What happens when there are two men at each others necks, or two women at each other's neck?
Which spouse gets arrested? Does an arrest even take place?
Anyone able to answer at least in terms of Ontarian law =/
i don't understand the logic or the question. In a domestic dispute, their job is to keep the peace. anyone who can't be persuaded to do so and becomes violent or abusive will get arrested. it's not just the male spouse.
where did you hear such a ridiculous idea? if the wife is the violent one throwing pots and pans or running around with a knife, why on earth would they arrest the victim?
They DO arrest the victim is what I'm getting at, my psych of law course pointed out the male spouse is arrested regardless of him being the perpetrator or the victim in the cases of domestic abuse/violence.
yeah your book or course can say whatever the hell it wants. in a domestic dispute that goes past the verbal stage, especially when you have a crazy woman running around with a knife...you're not going to arrest the victim and let the perpetrator roam free because they'd be a loose canon. if they ended up harming anyone else, there would be an inquiry and huge public attention on why that person was not arrested before they hurt someone.
as much as i don't like cops...they're not that stupid. they know how to cover their asses...most of the times anyway.
have them duke it out in a game of 3rd strike, whoever wins is right and loser has the take the heat and get fucked in prison(unless it was a gay couple, than i guess one of them will love it)
